Summary

Networking forms today one of the most important tasks in the procurement and represents at the same time the largest challenge. Both the cross-linking of the different process participants among themselves, from the supplier, over the many functions in the enterprise up to the internal buyer and customer, and the cross-linking of humans, e.g. from Vertrieblern, IT'lernern, lawyers, orderers, managers, strategists and controllers, must be included and form the new self understanding of the purchase. What networking means in the context of procurement is explained accordingly in detail in this article.

Based on it the challenges are defined to the buyer as commodity group specialist, Sourcing expert, network manager, process and system professional as well as integrative cost manager and characterized thereby the new role model of the procurer. Only a good mix from coworker development, purposeful external coworker development and the acquisition of enterprise-internal colleagues will lead in the long term to the goal, in order to consolidate this new role model in the enterprise.

A sophisticated personnel development concept with numerous practical examples makes this article worth reading.
